A Wappalyzer alternative
Wappalyzer made technology detection familiar through its browser extension. TechLookup answers the same question online: enter a domain, get the stack, on any device, with nothing installed and no account.
The same fingerprints, a different way in
TechLookup matches websites against the open fingerprint database that Wappalyzer published and the community continues to maintain, so the technologies it recognises are largely the same: thousands of CMSs, frameworks, analytics, hosting, CDN, e-commerce and marketing tools. The difference is where the detection runs. Our crawler loads the site's home page in a real browser on our servers, records what it finds with a scan date, and keeps the report so the next person, and search engines, can read it without installing anything.
What you get that an extension cannot give
- A shareable report for any site, with first-seen dates, changes over time and a security headers grade, not only the page you happen to be on.
- Lists of websites by technology, with market share by category and popularity by site rank.
- Side-by-side comparisons of two websites, or of two technologies such as Wix vs WordPress.
- Filters, CSV export and contact details on paid plans.
What Wappalyzer does that we do not
An extension sees every page you visit as you browse it, including pages behind a login, and reacts instantly. TechLookup scans a site's public home page once and refreshes it on request, so a tool used only on an inner page can be missed, and a site behind bot protection may show us less than it shows you. Wappalyzer also sells large lead lists and an API; TechLookup's plans are smaller and cheaper.
Price
